Grand Rapids Christian junior Drake Harris made up his mind on what college to attend, even with two years left of high school.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound athlete announced he plans to attend Michigan State to play both basketball and football, in a press conference at his high school Wednesday. Harris is a shooting guard for basketball, and wide receiver for football.

The two-sport athlete averaged 19 points per game in his sophomore year at Grand Rapids Christian in basketball, and 5 rebounds per game. Harris told WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids that one reason he decided on Spartan football and basketball was because of their great structure.

Referring to head coaches Tom Izzo and Mark Dantonio,  "I believe they're not going to be leaving anytime soon, they'll be there when I'm there, and then years on," Harris said.

Other reasons Harris decided on MSU were because he believes the offense of both Spartan football and basketball fit his style of play, and the school's close proximity to his home in Grand Rapids.

"It's only 45 minutes away (from home), so I can have my family come down there and watch me play," Harris said.

Even with the excitement, Harris won't be playing Spartan basketball or football until the 2014-15 school year. He is currently a member of the 2014 recruiting class for both sports.

"I can't wait to get down there and play with them," said a confident Harris to WOOD-TV.
