SAGINAW -- Former Michigan State star Jason Richardson jumpstarted his “Ninth Annual Charity Week” with “A Night of Champions: Saluting Greatness” awards reception at the Horizons Center Tuesday.

Richardson was joined by former Spartan teammate Mateen Cleaves and their coach, Tom Izzo.

Super Bowl champion and Detroit native Jerome Bettis was also in attendance, serving as the events keynote speaker.

The awards reception was the first of four events scheduled for the Jason Richardson Foundation’s charity week. The Ninth Annual Golf classic will be held Wednesday at the Fortress golf course in Frankenmuth, benefitting the United Way of Saginaw County.

Thursday’s event will feature a Food Distrubution in partnership with Parishioners on Patrol and the week will cap off with a ‘Skillz and Drillz’ youth basketball clinic on Friday.
