Reliever fined by MLB as well
DETROIT (AP) -- Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Fernando Rodney has had his three-game suspension reduced to two games.
Rodney will serve the suspension Monday night against Toronto and Tuesday night against Kansas City.
Rodney was suspended for throwing a ball into the stands in frustration after he hung on for a save in a 4-3 win at Tampa Bay on Sept. 4.
He appealed, and penalty was cut.
The right-hander has 32 saves in 33 chances for the AL Central leaders.
"Just emotion ... suspended two games," Rodney said.
Rodney said he was also fined $3,000.
"For two days, $3,000 is a lot of money," he said.
