Jones, Cousins being leaned on this season
More than 60 reporters from around the state of Michigan gathered Tuesday inside the Spartan Club at Spartan Stadium for Michigan State Football Media Day.
EAST LANSING -- The morning began with roundtable interviews with offensive players and coaches, followed by interviews with the defensive staff and players.
"I tried hard not to get too high or too low. People would tell me I had a great practice, that I had arrived. If I had a poor practice, I wouldn't think it was over. I just tried to continue working, continued getting better. You constantly use things for motivation. People who doubt you, you can use as your own motivation," says quarterback Kirk Cousins, who assumes control of the offense as the undisputed starter this season.
"I'm just excited to be back with the team, win a championship. That's what its all about. Also my teammates are very excited and i'm feeding off them a lot so i'm just ready to get back out there and have some fun," added All-American linebacker Greg Jones, who returned to East Lansing for his senior season instead of entering the NFL Draft.
Fourth-year head coach Mark Dantonio concluded media day festivities with a 30-minute press conference at the main podium.
