Falcons sit 3-3 overall, 1-3 in league play
OTISVILLE -- The LakeVille football team started the season on a high note, winning its first three games without giving up a point. Since then, the Falcons have suffered three straight defeats to even their record at 3-3, 1-3 in conference play. LakeVille dropped a heartbreaker at home to defending Genesee Area Conference-Red champion Flint Beecher, 13-12. The Bucs jumped out to an early 13-0 lead in the first quarter and held the Falcons off the board for most of the game. LakeVille did make a late rally, scoring 12 points in the fourth quarter but could not make enough plays to win the game.
Antwan Burks was 12-for-23 passing for 105 yards and one touchdown while Anthony Williams had 21 yards receiving and one touchdown to lead the Bucs’ aerial attack. Ricky Fleming ran the ball 20 times for 139 yards and one score to lead the rushing attack. Markis Walker added an extra-point for Beecher.
Trevor Komar led the Falcon offense with 125 yards passing and one score on 10-for-19 passing. Nick Streichert hauled in six passes for 83 yards and one score and used his legs to beat the Bucs for 149 yards on 11 rushing attempts and one score.
The defense was led by David Rutherford with 13 tackles and Andrew Haynes had one interception. The Falcons need to win the rest of their games to ensure their spot in the playoffs. Their quest begins on Friday when they travel to Durand. The Railroaders come into the game with a 0-6 record. After that, the Falcons travel to take on Mt. Morris, which is 4-2 on the season, and host Millington in the season finale. The Cardinals are currently 5-1 on the season.
