BATTLE CREEK -- Mid-Michigan has two chances to claim a state title in high school volleyball in Battle Creek on Saturday.

In Class B, defending state champion North Branch earned a shot at back-to-back championships after a 3-1 victory over Livonia Ladywood.  The Broncos recovered from a first-set loss to win the next three sets, setting up a showdown with Fruitport on Saturday at 4 p.m., the same school which upset North Branch in the 2008 semifinals.  Game scores were 17-25, 25-11, 25-20, and 25-12.

Over in Class C, St. Louis defeated Leroy Pine River by a 3-1 final to also earn a trip to the state title game on Saturday.  The Sharks had little margin for error against the Bucks, with each of the four sets decided by five points or fewer (26-24, 21-25, .25-21, 25-20).  St. Louis will battle Monroe St. Mary, who got past Reese earlier in the day to ruin the possibility of an all Mid-Michigan showdown in the state title game.  The Rockets were swept by the Falcons by scores of 26-24, 25-18, and 25-21.
