Mt. Pleasant, Millington and Fulton-Middleton all lose
MARQUETTE -- Alex Niznak continued his stellar senior season and Ithaca is headed to the state championship for the first time after the Yellowjackets rallied to beat Iron Mountain 27-13 Saturday in the Division 6 semifinals in Marquette.
Ithaca faces 2009 Division 6 runner-up Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central Friday afternoon at Ford Field.
Elsewhere, Millington lost in the Division 5 semifinals for the second year in a row. The Cardinals dropped a close one to Olivet, 21-14.
In Division 3, Mt. Pleasant's perfect season ends at the hands of four-time defending state champion East Grand Rapids. The Pioneers held off the Oilers 31-16.
In Division 8, Fulton-Middleton forced overtime versus Saugatuck, but could not score on their OT possession. Lance Kleino's seven yard touchdown run ended Fulton's dream season, and sends the Indians into the Division 8 state championship versus Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart Academy on Friday morning.
