Spirit offense silenced in loss at Plymouth

Whalers earn 3-0 victory
The Saginaw Spirit suffered their fifth regulation loss of the season Wednesday night, falling 3-0 to the Plymouth Whalers at the Compuware Arena of Plymouth. Despite the loss the Spirit still lead the OHL Western Conference with 37 points and a record of 17-5-2-1. The team will look to rebound with back-to-back home games after Thanksgiving, when they take on the Peterborough Petes Friday and the Windsor Spitfires Saturday.
PLYMOUTH --
The Whalers tallied two goals in the second period and a third in the final frame to secure the 3-0 win. Winger Stefan Noesen tallied a goal at 2:26 in the second from winger Garrett Meurs and defenseman Austin Levi, and a power play goal from defenseman Beau Schmitz at the 4:42 mark courtesy assists from winger Tyler Brown and winger Rickard Rakell moved the score to 2-0 Plymouth. Center Alex Aleardi capped off the game’s scoring with a goal at 8:23 in the third from defenseman Dario Trutmann.
Spirit netminder Mavric Parks tallied 34 saves on 37 shots, while Whalers goalie Scott Wedgewood notched 37 saves on 37 shots.
