Slumping Spirit overwhelmed by host Frontenacs

Kingston breezes to 7-3 victory
KINGSTON, ON -- The Saginaw Spirit wrapped up their Eastern Conference road swing with a 7-3 loss to the Kingston Frontenacs Sunday afternoon at the K-Rock Centre. The Spirit still lead the OHL Western Conference despite the loss, with 66 points and a record of 31-11-3-1.
The Spirit found themselves down three goals early in the game. Frontenacs winger Brett Morgan scored at 2:54 in the first, followed by winger Tyler J. Brown and center Ryan Spooner who scored at the 4:59 mark and the 8:42 mark respectively, to make it 3-0 Kingston.
The Spirit would battle back in the second frame, with center Mathew Sisca putting Saginaw on the scoreboard at 4:49 in the period from center Ivan Telegin. The Frontenacs would bounce right back with Spooner scoring a short handed goal at the 5:45 mark to make it 4-1, however the Spirit would answer with two consecutive goals to move the score to 4-3. Telegin would score a power play goal at 11:18 from wingers Jordan Szwarz and Josh Shalla, then moments later at 13:43 defenseman Brad Walch would fire in a shot from the blue line courtesy assists from center Brandon Saad and defenseman Dalton Young.
The Frontenacs quickly fired back to retake their three goal lead with two more goals in the second period. Morgan would tally his second of the night at 15:31 in the second and winger Corey Durocher would notch a goal at the 15:45 mark. The third period would see the Frontenacs extend their lead to 7-3, after defenseman Michal Cajkovsky tallied a goal at the 6:57 mark to secure the Kingston win.
Spirit goalie Tadeas Galansky would post 26 saves on 30 shots in 51:18 minutes in relief of Mavric Parks, who was pulled at the 8:42 mark of the first with 9 saves on 12 shots. Frontenacs goalie Philipp Grubauer would post 36 saves on 39 shots.
