HILLSDALE -- The Northwood University men's basketball team dropped a 78-71 contest at #23 Hillsdale Saturday (February 5).

Northwood falls to 8-14 overall, 5-8 in the GLIAC. Hillsdale improves to 17-3 overall, 11-3 in the GLIAC.

Hillsdale led the majority of the first half, but used a late run to take control. the Chargers out-scored Northwood 18-8 in the final 6:23 to go up 42-29 at the break.

It appeared the Chargers were on their way to an easy win, leading by 17 (67-50) with 5:46 remaining. But Northwood's full-court pressure got the Timberwolves back into it, as NU scored 21 points in just over five minutes to make the score 75-71 with less than 40 seconds remaining. The Timberwolves got a look at a triple that would have cut the lead to one, but the shot did not fall.

For the game, Northwood finished at 45.5 percent, going 25-55 from the floor. Hillsdale finished at 45.2 percent (28-62). NU went 5-12 from 3-point range and 16-24 at the foul line.

Booker Stoudmire (Ypsilanti, Mich./Belleville) and Andrew VanDierenDonck (Wyandotte, Mich./Roosevelt) each added 13 points.
