CMU's Thomas named Academic All-America

Senior carries 3.65 GPA in Sport Studies

MT. PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University senior forward Jalin Thomas has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America Men's Basketball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Thomas, who carries a 3.65 grade-point average in Sport Studies, joins Nathan Hedgecock (U.S. Military Academy), Blake Hoffarber (Minnesota), Levi Knutson (Colorado) and Garrett Leffelman (Brown) on the University Division Second Team.

Thomas was the only Mid-American Conference player selected to the Academic All-America Team and becomes the first Chippewa recognized since Sander Scott in 1993.

Currently Thomas is averaging 15.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He was also an academic all-America while at Pensacola Junior College.
