Gibson sparks Jungaleers with 22 points, 11 rebounds

EAST LANSING -- Percy Gibson had 22 points, 11 rebounds and made ten of 11 free throws to lead Detroit Southeastern to a 53-49 victory over Bay City Western in the Class A semifinals Friday afternoon in East Lansing.

Matt Costello had 19 points and 8 rebounds for the Warriors in the loss, despite injuring his left ankle in the second quarter and playing much of the second half with four fouls.

Michigan State bound senior guard Brandan Kearney was held to eight points on 4-12 shooting, but Gibson more than compensated.

Southeastern will make its first title game appearance since 1926, when they take on Kalamazoo Central tomorrow afternoon.

Mid-Michigan's only hope for a state title, girls or boys, now rests on the shoulders of Fulton-Middleton in Class D.

The Pirates take on Wyoming Tri-unity Christian Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Class D state championship game.
