Saginaw moves one game out of first place after 63-58 victory
SAGINAW -- The Saginaw Sting closed out their home campaign in style, rallying late to beat the first place Northern Kentucky River Monsters 63-58 Friday night at the Dow Event Center.
The victory moves the Sting to 8-3 overall, one game behind the River Monsters with three games to play in the UIFL's regular season.
Northern Kentucky looked tough early, thanks to the play of former NFL-quarterback Jared Lorenzen, who now serves as the River Monsters' QB and general manager.
Lorenzen starred at the University of Kentucky, before spending parts of four seasons in the National Football League, serving as a back-up QB for the Giants and Colts.
Saginaw's final three games will take place on the road.
If the Sting finish the season in first or second place, they will host a UIFL playoff game in Early June.
