Spartans host their 2011 Media Day Monday in East Lansing

EAST LANSING -- Football season is back in East Lansing, as The Michigan State Spartans got their camp underway on Sunday.

The defending Co-Big Ten Champs come into the 2011 season hungry.

After ending last season in a tie with Wisconsin and Ohio State for the conference title, a rough 49-7 loss to Alabama in The Capital One Bowl, left a bad taste in their mouths.

With Kirk Cousins returning under center, along with sixteen additional starters, Sparty-nation could be hoisting that Big Ten title all by themselves this year.

If you ask the team, they aren't thinking that far ahead, they aren't even thinking about next week, it's about taking it one day at a time.

Senior QB Kirk Cousins says "My job is just to keep moving forward and pursuing the next opportunity. I think there is a reason I don't wear my Big-Ten Championship ring around. I didn't wear it to Big-Ten Media Day in Chicago. While that was a great accomplishment, right now I'm focused on the next thing." said Cousins

Head coach Mark Dantonio thinks "We're always trying to push the envelope here. We're not going to sit back and say "we're there yet, or we've done that," we're not going to make illusions to that. We're a work in progress and I always believe as long as you take that mindset you have a chance to get better. That's what we always want to do, we want to get better." added Dantonio.
