Hornets put up fight despite 3-0 loss

SWARTZ CREEK -- Swartz Creek topped visiting Kearsley in straight sets in a competitive volleyball match Tuesday night.

The Dragons took game one with relative ease, but it was the second game that brought the crowd to its feet.

The game showcased a large Swartz Creek lead for some time before the Hornets brought the game back close.

The game wound up at 24-23 before Kearsley tied it up and much back-and-forth action would take place until Swartz Creek outlasted their opponents and taking game two by a score of 35-33.

The third and final game was also a closely contested match-up, however Swartz Creek was able to pull it out with a score of 26-24, finish the Hornets three games to none.

Dragon Katelyn O’Brien finished with 15 digs, Kayla Myott recorded 10 kills and Riley Carpenter racked up nine kills.

The win keeps Swartz Creek undefeated in the Flint Metro conference.
