The Michigan State Spartans are ready to move forward in their 2011 campaign
EAST LANSING -- The Michigan State Spartan basketball team is ready to put last season's disappointing finish behind them.
Tuesday afternoon at the Breslin Center, MSU hosted their media day to talk about the upcoming season.
Head Coach Tom Izzo spoke about many things, but a big emphasis was put on leadership.
The majority of which seems to be landing returning senior Draymond Green.
"There is no question that we all know who our leader is, it's Draymond Green," Izzo said. "I think he's put himself in a position by who he is and what he has meant to this program."
Junior Derrick Nix was also talked about highly Tuesday for his hard work, dropping more than 25-pounds in the off-season.
He also believes in Green's leadership.
"He pretty much leads the team, pretty much is a coach on the team because he knows so much stuff the coaches know and he's been through everything and been everywhere we want to get", Nix said.
The Spartans will open their season on November 4th against North Carolina on a court like no other. They will be playing in San Diego, on the deck of the USS Carl Vinson, in the "Quicken Loans Carrier Classic".
