Linden beat Lapeer East for the second time this season to move on in the MHSAA playoffs

LAPEER -- It was a rematch of two weeks ago when Lapeer East beat its Metro League rival Linden 24-20. But, the post season is a completely different story, regular season wins and losses mean little. Friday, Linden started the scoring on a Travis Marsh run. The Eagles lead got to 12-0 early and they continued to roll. Linden knocked out Lapeer West last week, and Lapeer East this week. Final score: 33-8. Linden takes on Orchard Lake St. Mary's in the next round.

Nouvel Catholic was without their leading tackler Clae Henderson last week when his team crushed Coleman 63-14. Friday he was back which was not good news for Blanchard Montabella. The Panthers have been running all over their competition this year and Friday was no exception. Nouvel was leading 49-6 at the half and crushes Blanchard Montabella 62-6. Nouvel plays Harbor Beach next round.

The Midland Chemics have outscored their opponents 387-61 in the regular season. Meanwhile, Grand Blanc has allowed 83 points in their last two games, Friday they needed their defense to come through and the bobcats did just that. Grand Blanc led 35-7 in the 3rd quarter, but the game was far from over. Midland's Toby Wilson scored to make it 35-14. A few possessions later, he found the end zone again, but it was not enough. Grand Blanc wins 49-35 and moves on to play Rockford next.

Freeland and Hemlock met in the regular season and the Falcons haven't forgotten that the Huskies handed them their only TVC Central loss of the season. Friday night was a rematch. The Huskies prevail once again, beating Freeland in a close one 27-20. Hemlock moves on to play Flint Powers Catholic next round.
