GENESEE -- The girls from Reese hoped to continue their perfect season Wednesday in the district semifinals.

They met a tough Saginaw Valley Lutheran team at Genesee High School; 39 wins between these two squads this season.  

Great atmosphere in the gym. Both schools student sections were pumped.

The teams stayed close until the second quarter when the Chargers built a 22-16 lead. The different was seven at the break and only one after three quarters.

The Chargers hang on to edge out the Rockets 54-51 to advance. It's Reese's first loss of the season and ends the year with a 21-1 record.

Valley Lutheran's Samantha Shafer led all scorers with 21 points, they meet New Lothrop on Friday in the district finals.
