EAST LANSING -- Michigan State men's basketball head coach Tom Izzo says that Derrick Nix's career as a Spartan is "in serious jeopardy" after reports surfaced earlier this week that Nix was charged with operating a vehicle with presence of drugs and marijuana possession in an early-morning run in with police.
According to the school's student-athlete handbook, a palyer who is convicted of a felony will be suspended indefinitely.
Izzo immediately suspended Nix after hearing of the misdemanor charges and his future with the team is up in the air.
If Nix is allowed to remain with the team next season, he would be the only returning senior for the Spartans.
