The Saginaw County Sheriff's Department responded to a home in Swan Creek Township Tuesday morning, where a little girl was found unconscious in a pond behind her home.

It's a tranquil setting, a pond behind this home on Roosevelt Road in Swan Creek Township.  But it would turn into a parents worst nightmare.

 "The mother of the child found the child in the pond behind this house.", Saginaw County Sheriff William Federspiel said.

The mother then rushed the child to a neighbors house on South Gleaner Road, about a mile away, for medical attention.

"911 was called and our agency and MMR arrived about the same time, life saving techniques were applied, CPR and other care were given"

The one-year-old little girl then taken to Covenant where we're told she died just after one o'clock Tuesday afternoon.

"At this time we don't know exactly know how the little girl got into the water."

According to investigators there were two other children home at the time of the incident .  Sheriff William Federspiel says this is a cautionary tale for everyone this summer.

Federspiel added, "It's a dangerous situation and unfortunately this is case and point in which we have to be careful."

The investigation is on going. No further information is being provided at this time.
