The Detroit Pistons selected center Andre Drummond from the University of Connecticut with the ninth overall pick in the first round of Thursday’s NBA draft.
Drummond averaged 10 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks as a true freshman for the Huskies and was named to the Big East All-Rookie team.
The 6-11 big man is expected to help the Pistons improve their front court and assist Greg Monroe in protecting the rim. Detroit currently has picks nine and 14 for the second round.
