ANN ARBOR -- University of Michigan head men's basketball coach John Beilein announced Wednesday the one-game suspension for sophomore point guard Trey Burke for a violation of team standards.
Burke will miss the game against Northern Michigan on Thursday, Nov. 1, at Crisler Center.
"We have high standards and values for our student-athletes and we expect everyone to meet those expectations," said Beilein. "Trey will sit out the first game as a result of some 'out of character' decisions he now regrets. We believe he has learned a valuable lesson and we are confident he will grow from this experience."
Beilein would not elaborate further on the situation.
Burke was the Wolverines' leading scorer last year. He contemplated moving on to the NBA draft, but ultimately elected to return for his sophomore season.
