FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP (AP) -- State police say a Houghton man was killed when he drove his snowmobile under a steel cable.

In a news release, state police from the Calumet post say the 41-year-old man died Friday night on private property in Houghton County's Franklin Township.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name was being withheld until authorities could notify his family.
