BAY CITY -- A man using a dead end sign as target practice has been ordered to pay $2,000 in fines and take a hunting safety class after accidently hitting a bystander.

Tyler Guzdail, age 25 of Bay CIty, pleased guilty to one count of attempted careless discharge of a firearm after coming to a deal with prosecutors.

District Judge Mark Janer also gave him six months' probation at Thursday's sentencing, according to Mlive.com

Authorities say Guzdial was shooting at a dead en sign in Hampton Township when one of his bullets hit a truck parked nearby, then ricocheted and hit the truck's owner in the abdomen.

The truck's owner's injuries were not life-threatening.
