FLINT -- The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint and the Flint Police Activities League handed out 10,000 lbs. of food Saturday.

The free neighborhood food giveaway was held at the Haskell Youth Center.

Organizers of the event say its helping to meet a need for many children and their families.

"It is huge because it provides stable meals for the kids as well as the families throughout the holiday season." says Officer Jesse Carpenter.

The Ronald McDonald house charities also presented a $14,800 check to the Haskell Youth Center to make improvements to the Cadet and Team room.
