MONITOR TOWNSHIP -- Authorities are investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide case in Bay County.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Department  has identified 52-year-old Robert Burt and 48-year-old Michelle Pischel, who were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in their Monitor Township home.

Sheriff John Miller tells NBC25 the couple was engaged and that there was a suicide note.

The Michigan State Police Crime Lab is analyzing the note.

The bodies were discovered around 3:43 p.m. Wednesday at 1018 E. Midland Road by Pischel's son.

Burt owned Boone's Corner Store, which is next to the home he shared with Pischel.
