FLINT (AP) -- A man charged in the 2007 killing of a Flint store owner will stand trial again this spring after a jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict.

Genesee County Circuit Judge Archie Hayman declared a mistrial Thursday after the deadlocked jury told him it couldn't reach a verdict.

Harvey Lee Johnson is charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery in the death of Wajdi Badr.

The new trial is scheduled for April 9.

Defense lawyer Frank Manley says he thinks his ability to raise doubt regarding a number of confessions allegedly made by his client played a key role in the hung jury.
