FLINT -- A security guard working for Burlington Coat Factory in the Genesee County Mall was convicted of stealing money from a customer.

Eddie Lee Woods, age 35 of Flint, was given a wallet by a cashier at the store that a customer accidentally left behind.

Prosecutors say surveillance video showed Woods hiding the wallet as he walked through the store and toward a public trash can, where he dropped the wallet after removing $300 in cash.

During the initial interview with Flint Township police officers Woods denied taking the money.

Woods was convicted of larceny which carries a possible sentence of up to 4 years in prison.

Sentencing is scheduled in Genesee County Circuit Court on April 11, 2013.
