FLINT -- A vacant home set for demolition today went up in flames yesterday.

It happened on Oak Street in Flint around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The fire chief tells us the fire is suspicious since power has been shut off at the home.

Joe Morrison, Battalion Chief of the Flint Fire Department, told NBC 25 that, "Our plan of attack was to protect the exposures of an occupied home, the adjacent home to the south and also the excavator that was going to be doing the work tomorrow. We just attacked it from a defensive standpoint."

Demolition of the vacant home was set for Monday morning.
