BAY CITY (AP) -- A 25-year-old Bay City man charged with wounding a hunter while target shooting has accepted a plea deal.

Tyler Guzdial pleaded guilty to one count of attempted careless discharge of a firearm, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine. In exchange, prosecutors agreed to dismiss single counts of reckless use of a firearm, careless discharge of a firearm and careless discharge of a firearm.

Authorities say Guzdial was taking potshots at a dead end sign in Hampton Township on Sept. 15. One of his bullets struck a truck parked nearby, then ricocheted and hit the vehicle's owner in the abdomen. The victim suffered a non-life-threatening injury.
