Dan Kildee and other members of Congress ask for Saturday delivery of prescription drugs

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Dan Kildee, along with 88 other members of congress, asked the Postmaster General to keep Saturday mail delivery for prescription drugs.
In the letter to Postmaster General Patrick Donahue the congressmen point out that many homebound seniors rely on the delivery of prescription drugs to thier homes in a timely fasion.
The Fifth Congressional District, Congressman Kildee's district, there are approximately 122,000 citizens over the age of 65, 63,000 veterans, and nearly 65,000 people with disabilities, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
According to the Department of Defense, the government saved $33,000,000 in 2010 through the use of TRICARE Home Delivery alone.
The U.S. Postal Service had said it would end all Saturday delivery except for packages starting in August.
